Voices told man to kill like Freddy Kreuger

Voices in the head of Daniel Gonzalez told him to act like Freddy Krueger, the killer in the film Nightmare On Elm Street, the Old Bailey court in London has heard.

Multiple killer Daniel Gonzalez told police he should "go to the electric chair" after he confessed to killing a retired couple, a court has heard.

The Old Bailey jury was told that after stabbing Jean and Derek Robinson in London he said he should be locked up. The Robinson's were killed in their house (pictured).

"I remember the man dying first. I stabbed him once and stabbed him again," he said in a police interview.

Gonzalez from Woking, Surrey, is also accused of murdering Kevin Molloy in London, and Marie Harding in Sussex.

The 25-year-old has admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, but this is not accepted by the prosecution.

The court heard on Monday that Gonzalez had just wanted to kill someone when he went to the Robinsons' home in Highgate, north London, on 17 September, 2004.

"It was the luck of the draw that I went into their house," he said in an interview after his arrest.

Mr Robinson, 75, was stabbed in the stomach and neck, while his 68-year-old wife was stabbed 10 times in the chest.

Famous killer

Asked why he had killed, Gonzalez said: "I just wanted to hurt someone. I wanted to kill someone. It was stupid like. I am not like that at all."

Jurors heard that Gonzalez had told a police officer he had never stabbed anyone before.

And in an interview about the stabbing of Mrs Harding, Gonzalez said he had heard voices, that he was "miles away", and was "thinking about fairies".

He told the officer: "I just could not handle it. I was hearing voices. I could not go on with life anymore.... My head was just in the clouds man. I was really wound up."

The prosecution allege that Gonzalez had wanted to be a famous serial killer and "kill at least 10 people" in a campaign of murder stretching from the south coast of England to London.

Voices in his head told Gonzalez to act like Freddy Krueger, the killer in the film Nightmare On Elm Street, the court has heard.

In three days in September 2004 he knifed two women and two men to death.

Gonzalez has also admitted the attempted murder of Peter King in Portsmouth and Koumis Constantino in London.

The defence claims that at the time he was suffering from auditory hallucination - voices commanding him to kill - which diminished his responsibility and meant he was guilty of manslaughter, not murder.

The trial continues.
